Around and About

Hydraviation Museum of Biscarrosse

Every year, an increasing number of visitors discover Biscarosse’s extensive aeronautical history. This summer, around 11,700 visitors came to the Museum compared with 9,100 in 2006. The museum is also the second most visited in the Landes region, behind the Marquèze Eco-museum.

The Biscarrosse museum was created by Marie-Paule Vié Klaze and is dedicated to the history of seaplanes since the town is where the Latécoère seaplanes were assembled and tested from 1930 to 1955. The museum is not a local museum : it covers the history of hydraviation from the early stages until modern times, throughout the world.

Documents and objects that help tell the story are all exhibited : archives, memories of great pilots and manufacturers, models, photos, pictures, uniforms, engines, propellers, spare parts, a cockpit reconstruction, radio transmitters etc. not to mention a number of authentic seaplanes restored by the museum.
